2013 Scholarship Recipients

Ashley McAdams is currently a Senior at Baldwin High School, New York, and has been accepted to a host of colleges and universities; some of these institutions include Howard University, Long Island University, SUNY Oswege, Binghamton and Old Westbury.  Asheley has shown hard work and perseverance, undergoing two knee surgeries and coming back to lead her basketball team as a captain.  She has truly demonstrated her ability to beat the odds and push through severe obstacles. 

 

Ashley plans to pursue English as a major at one of the aforementioned universities in the fall of 2013.

Jonathan Armstrong is a Sophomore at Virginia State University.  He is majoring in Physical Therapy.  He is working towards earning a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy and a Master's in Business.  Without being awarded any financial aid, Jonathan has had to work hard to assist his mother with his educational expenses by tutoring college students.  He has also volunteered with children with disabilities, taught Mixed Martial Arts classes, and was selected to run at the Pennsylvania Relays as a senior in high school.  

 

Jonathan will be honored at Virginia State University in April for his academic excellence.

Christine Flores graduated St. John Baptist DHS.  She is a well-rounded young scholar with goals of pursuing a career in medicine.  She currently attends Old Dominion University as a freshman majoring in Biology/Pre-Medicine.  She has received accolades in academics, as a member of several honor societies,  athletics, especially track and in the church. 

 

Christine hopes to eventually become a brain surgeon to fulfill her desire of understanding the intricacies of the human mind.
